sticks, bargains n kids....
A few weeks ago I purchased an old brown port for $3 and a timber floor lamp for $7. Here they are.... I love the port, its going to remain as it is currently. And also the lamp, well i'm not sure what to do with it yet, so it will also remain the same for awhile until i decide to revamp it or not.
So I found the perfect branch the other day in the back yard at the inlaws... it'll be part of the decor in our home, just near the french doors, hoping to hang some little nic-naks off it. It was brown so I painted it silver.

Lighting and Carpet....
SO this week was a productive one!! Hubby's brother is an electrician and travelled up from Brisbane to install all our electrical gear and lighting (http://www.littleelectrical.com.au/) ...heres some photos!! Kids have fans in their rooms ( had to settle for 3 blades due to tight budget), downlights in lounge/dining, pendants in kitchen, formal lounge and chandelier in ensuite but i stupidly didn't take a photo of the ensuite..grr..And also some photos of the colours of the Godrey Hirst carpet we've chosen, we arn't sold though as its $500 over budget, so going in this afternoon together to make a final decision, thinking of going the darker colour.
Have a wonderful weekend!!

Carpet time!!
So its come to the time where we are carpet shopping. I know after doing 2 lots of carpet previously that I dont want creams or browns, so dark greys/charcoals will be the way to go this time around. With a budget to stick to its quite hard finding something thats nice and soft underfoot, doesn't show foot prints/vacuum marks or too much fluff. So am looking for a nice flecky design... just like this... however this carpet layed is $1000 over budget. Sigh! Let me know of some great carpet choices and or mistakes.
Have a happy day!

Fresh produce!
So I had the pleasure this morning to stand at the local Aldi and take my time selecting fresh fruit and vegies!! I wasn't sure if there would be much due to the devestating floods, but to my surprise there was plenty. Thank you God for simple joys! Its so nice to go out into the kitchen to nibble on fresh strawberries and grapes, yummo!

Paint it white!
I've been inspired lately to paint things that won't suit the new decor of our home. Here is Olivia's vintage cane chair which we just purchased at a bargain price of $9 from the Tender Centre on the weekend. Here are the before and after photos. I'm very happy with the outcome, can't wait to take it and put it in her new bedroom once we've moved home.

I can see the light!!
As promised some updated photos of the house. We're getting so close now. Husband is back at work today, so we're finishing the painting off at night times once the children are in bed, get the lighting, carpet, plumbing done over the next few weeks. Really hoping we can move back in by mid February at the latest.
After 3rd and final coat!!!
Feels just wonderful underfoot.

Vintage laundry tub
All painted and ready to go.

What a crazy week!
This week has been such a rollercoaster. My heart pours out to those families who have lost loved ones and to those that have lost their homes.
Here are some pictures of Monday 10th January from our place. Pics show the river running down past the house. West Creek is about 150metres down the street..the rest of the photos show how destructive the roar of the water was. Businesses down the bottom of the street had almost 1metre of water through.
Will upload some house photos in the coming days. 3rd and final coat went on the floors yesturday.

Hope and Pray!
Another rainy day here in the darling downs, so the children and I decided to do some crafting. We made 2 toilet roll puppets, blue playdoh and lots of shapes.
I was inspired by the rain when pressing these letters together. We had severe flooding here in QLD and with all this rain it only makes things a million times worse. So hoping and praying for those poor souls in the effected areas.

It's Official!
I've just completed my Diploma of Interior Design!!!! And i can't be more relieved, excited and proud. Having two young children to run after, moving house and extending all at the same time..to say the least its been very challenging. I can't recommend the Interior Design Institute (http://www.interiordesigninstitute/) enough, they have been fantastic and studying online has been such a great experience and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Now that i finally have more time (this has been 8 months in the making) you'll see many more posts on this page and mostly will be extension photos and some of my projects that I did for my assignments.
I'll start off with this one...this is a one-view perspective of a living room, it was my 11th assignment...its not perfect but it was my 1st attempt and scored a 10/10 as it met all requirements. :)
Bye for now,
Liz
